You must get tired, as I do, of explaining to people that in the US, there is both class and CASTE. No matter how wealthy or famous you are, if you are black or brown, then your class is still outweighed by caste colorism. For some inexplicable reason, there are still people, who I presume are intelligent in other ways, but who still vehemently insist that class is more salient than race. It isn't.
I have heard more times than I care to recount, whites who say "I am not privileged." If you're working class or poor, then no one is arguing that you lack class entitlement or capital, but those people deliberately want not to acknowledge their skin privilege. The poorest white person can enter a country club and be given the presumption of belonging, while a person of color will be shown to the Service Entrance. Contrary to those who claim that we "invent" racism because we wish to, we will never truly flourish as a country until every boat is allowed to explore the waters before it. Thank you so much for your work.
