Your response has not addressed what I wrote. I agree that blacks may be among the most socially conservative of the Democratic constituency, but I am also suggesting that our conservatism comes from unexamined devotion to what we have been told to believe rather than independent examination of what religion tells us to do. As a group, we tend to be more obedient to what we’ve been told and repeat “what we’ve heard” without question. Supporting Democrats is not what holds us back, passivity, the willingness to accept “information” without examination, and not “practicing what we preach” is.
If conservatives had their sway over social programs, the black population would be hurt much more than other groups. If we don’t “get it,” then we’re just harming ourselves. Don’t tell me “who we are,” ask “WHY we are.”
